To add links via the CSV Uploader, certain columns must be created in your CSV file.
These instructions explain step by step how to do this.
Step by step instructions:
Adding links works both for inserting new profiles and for updating existing profiles via the bulk function.
If you want to add a new link of a specific type, you must add three columns in your CSV file:
newlink_type
: Here you specify the type of link.
-> How to find the link type: Open the corresponding menu in your application to find the names of the link types
2. newlink_url
: The actual URL of the link you want to add (or e.g. the username for Instagram, Xing, Soundcload, Spotify etc. or the phone number for WhatsApp).
3. newlink_name
: The name for the link to be displayed on the profile page.
Note: Links can only be added when updating profiles or adding new profiles. Existing links cannot be updated.
Example
For example, if you want to add a WhatsApp link, your columns will look like this:
newlink_type | newlink_url | newlink_name |
---|---|---|
+49123456789 | Message Me |
Add multiple links per profile
If you want to add several links per profile or links of different types, you must create several sets of these three columns. To link the columns within a set, add a number after “newlink”.
Example:
If you want to add two sets of links, your columns will look like this:
Columns in CSV Box
When you upload the CSV file or Excel file, the newlink columns in the CSV box are not displayed in the visual table because they are not assigned. Nevertheless, they are correctly transmitted to the backend and processed.
Special columns for LinkedIn
There are two special columns for LinkedIn:
linkedin
: For the URL of the LinkedIn profile.linkedinLinkName
: For the label that is displayed on the profile page. If this column is omitted, the default label is “My LinkedIn”.
These LinkedIn columns act as “aliases”. This means that the following two column combinations provide the same result:
linkedInLinkName | |
---|---|
https://linkedin.com/in/username | Me on LinkedIn |
or
newlink_type | newlink_url | newlink_name |
---|---|---|
https://linkedin.com/in/username | Me on LinkedIn |
Example-CSV for adding links
Here is an example of what a CSV file that adds LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Instagram and website links to existing profiles could look like. Adding profiles works in the same way.
⚠️ Important: LinkedIn requires a full URL, WhatsApp only the phone number, Instagram, Xing, Soundcload, or Spotify only the user name and websites a full URL. ⚠️
linkedinLinkType | newlink1_type | newlink1_name | newlink1_url | ||
test1@email.com | Find me on LinkedIn | Message Me | +49123456789 | ||
test2@email.com | Find me on LinkedIn | Message Me | +49123456788 | ||

With this information, you can easily add and manage links to your CSV files in CSVBox.
