Set Up Custom Email Sender

With the Custom Email Sender, you can send emails from Lemontaps using your organization’s own sender address, e.g. invitation or follow-up emails from marketing@company.com. This ensures that emails are sent on behalf of your organization and are delivered correctly.

Note on feature availability: The Custom Email Sender is a paid feature and depends on your subscribed plan.
If this feature is not included in your current plan, please contact support@lemontaps.com.

Requirements

  • An email address from your own domain to be used as the sender

  • Access to your domain’s DNS management (usually provided by your IT department)

How to set up the Custom Email Sender

  1. Provide the sender email address
Send us the desired sender email address (e.g. marketing@company.com) to support@lemontaps.com.

  2. Receive DNS records from Lemontaps
After your request, we will send you the required DNS records that need to be configured by your IT team.

  3. Set the DNS records
Forward the DNS records to your IT department and have them added in the DNS management of your domain.

  4. Confirm the setup
Once the DNS records have been set, please notify us briefly.

  5. Activate email sending
We will verify the configuration and then activate email sending with the Custom Email Sender.

Important notes

  • Depending on the provider, setting up DNS records may take from a few minutes to several hours.

  • The Custom Email Sender can only be activated once all DNS records have been set correctly.

  • The DNS records should remain in place permanently to ensure reliable email delivery.

FAQs

Which DNS records need to be set?

You will receive three files:

dkim-dns-records
These CNAME records are mandatory. They ensure that email signatures are correctly validated and that your domain is verified as the sender. Without these records, emails may be delivered less reliably or marked as insecure.

dmarc-dns-records
These records are optional and recommended by us. They define how receiving mail servers should handle emails that are not correctly authenticated (e.g. monitor, block, or move them to quarantine). The customer decides which DMARC policy is appropriate.

custom-mail-from-dns-records
These records are also optional. If they are set, emails will no longer show amazonses.com (our email provider) as the sending server, but instead your own domain. This results in more consistent branding and increased trust for the recipient.
